Yahoo Goes Tweet

Yahoo! Inc., owner of the popular U.S. search engine, will offer Twitter content on its Web sites including mail, homepage and sports as it expands cooperation with social-networking providers.

Users will be able to access their Twitter feeds from Yahoo’s sites and offer Yahoo-generated content in their own Twitter messages, known as tweets, Sunnyvale, California-based Yahoo said in a statement today. Terms of the deal were not provided.

The agreement with Twitter, which allows users to broadcast 140-character messages to followers, adds to a deal Yahoo made with Facebook Inc. last year to share user comments across their platforms. Plans to integrate its search business with Microsoft Corp. may help Yahoo regain revenue after it lost almost 20 percent of its market share in the past year.

“Because of these connections, anyone with a Yahoo! ID can update multiple social networks simultaneously and stay in touch with the people and information that matter most at every moment of the day,” Yahoo said in the statement.
