New-Look Lineup Pours on Goals In Persitara Win
Persitara North Jakarta’s midseason spending spree is beginning to pay off.

The club, which added 11 new players to its roster last week, thrashed PSPS Pekanbaru 5-2 at Soemantri Brodjonegoro Stadium in South Jakarta on Wednesday, moving up to 17th in the table.

Prince Kabir Bello hit the back of the net twice, while Diego Mendieta, Dedy Mulyadi and Tantan each added goals.

Ade Chandra Kirana and Muhamad Isnaeni scored for the visitor.

Persitara coach Dick Buitelaar said he was pleased with his team’s effort, but added that there were still some problems to work out as a result of having more than half the starting lineup made up of new signings.

“I know we still have communication problems. A lack of understanding between Kim Jong-kyung and Supriyadi caused us to concede PSPS’s first goal,” the Dutch coach said.

The match was played behind closed doors because the Jakarta Police were concerned about the security situation as a result of the ongoing political drama at the House of Representatives.

Persitara got off to a slow start and found itself down when Ade Chandra Kirana exploited a hole in the host’s defense to give PSPS a 1-0 advantage.

Persitara equalized when Bello hit the back of the net after a pass from Oktovianus Maniani in the 35th minute.

Poor defense saw Persitara go behind again when Muhammad Isnaeni scored in the 49th minute.

But the host kept its composure and leveled from a penalty kick by Tantan in the 60th minute, the referee awarding a spot kick after PSPS goalkeeper France Haryanto brought down Cesar Mboma in the box.

Persitara took its first lead a minute later through Mendieta, before Bello scored his second in the 75th and Dedy Mulyadi sealed the victory in the 82nd.

“It was our worst match and I’m very disappointed. We should have scored more than two goals as Persitara looked poor in defense,” PSPS coach Abdul Rahman Gurning said.
